  • 31st Annual Sammy Film Music Awards

    Now in its 31st year, the Sammy Film Music Awards (SFMA), are the longest-running awards for recordings of film scores and songs.  These awards are named in honor of the late movie lyricist, Sammy Cahn (1913-1993), who received 4 Oscars for his song lyrics, all of them recorded by Frank Sinatra during the 1950s and 1960s.

    Sammy Cahn also received the first Emmy for a television song, “Love and Marriage,” also recorded by Frank Sinatra.

    The Sammy Film Music Awards (SFMA) have been chosen each year by Roger Hall, a film music historian, member of the International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA), Managing Editor of Film Music Review (FMR), and  the author of the popular book, “As Time Goes By” - A Guide to Film Music, now in its 7th edition.  He has been assisted by two film music critics who have written for Film Music Review:  Steven A. Kennedy and Steve Vertlieb.  See this link:
