  • New Photo

Today's post is a very nonmusical one, though it is perhaps more typical of personal blogs.

For many years now the "avatar" photo for Cinemusical has been one of my long time "associates" if you will.  For a very long time, I had a photo of my oldest cat, Mittens, with her head draped over the edge of the recliner at a right angle.  That photo was part of the blog from its inception up until Mittens' 9th life ended.

My other "younger" cat, Tigrah, was then my new photo.  Tigrah was never a lap cat for most of her life.  However, when she became the "oldest" she quickly assumed the position.  Before our last relocation, she would head up to my music office and call me to work each and every morning with her requests for my lap.  I began to refer to her as my secretary.

At the age of 19 (!), Tigrah succumbed to renal failure and we said goodbye to another old friend.  For those of you with animal companions, it can be a rather hard adjustment.  Now I can actually type though without worrying about cutting off the cat's windpipe, or having her inadvertently hit a key when getting up.

I decided it was probably time, to remove her photo here, though I still keep one on my laptop as it sort of feels like she is still "around" that way.  Our 3-year old cat is more into management and basically just stops by to make sure I'm working right now.

So, there you have it, not a detailed musicological review or a historical perspective, or even praise for some new film or video game score.  Just a brief comment on the passing of a companion.

I decided to put in its place a recent concert photo from a benefit concert this past month.  It may not be as endearing as a comfy animal, but hopefully regular readers will be okay with that.

Thanks again to all who stop by to learn a little about great music.
