Thanks
I just wanted to post a word of thanks to the many people who stop by this blog on a regular basis or subscribe, or even link to it. Over the last few years I sort of wished I had more time to contribute here and I sometimes wonder if blogger might have been a better blog community to shoot for--it's a lot easier to use that is for sure! I also have wavered over including those crazy imbedded CD/DVD links for people to Amazon. Not sure that any of us actually use those anyway. But with all the newer discs coming my way of late it might be at least a little easier.
Mostly I am always struck at the hundreds of you each week who somehow end up here from around the world. (I either have a huge fan base in Korea, or one really avid fan--THANKS!)
I am also deeply honored at the emails and feedback from so many fellow composers in the film and video game industry. It was purely coincidentally one day that I was at someone's website and read a blurb from a review only to realize it was mine! What an honor that was!
In the midst of all this writing, I have also been trying to do something a bit more creative. Anyone out there a violinist? I am looking for someone to take on and maybe even record a 4-movement sonata that has already had a world premiere. There's a symphony laying here...a few solo pieces. And I'm feeling the urge to be creative in some unique way musically again too. Any commissions?--all genres and I am pretty fast that 25 minute sonata was written for someone in about 3 weeks!
All of that should take form once our house improvement project is finished--the closest thing to creativity this week will be painting walls--and not landscapes!
I was reminded in some emails for a new video game music site starting up soon that has asked me to write for them that years ago someone had emailed me to consider writing music for video games for his father's company. At that time, video game music was mostly electronic hits and beeps. So I of course, being more interested in art music and concert work at the time declined---what a dumb thing that probably was to do. Maybe though it's time to write a book about this burgeoning genre of music. No there's a big project!
I've posted a few audio clips and probably need to update some of them with other music. If I can get it to work, I'll post a few sample pdfs of my creative stuff here too over time. Enjoy the reviews and other musical commentary and thanks again for being a reader!
